Tues PM Hand-Building, Surface Decor & Soda with Stacie
Skill: Beginner+
This class has it all — explore hand-building projects and surface decor techniques from Stacie Hibino and participate in a soda-firing. Wheel-throwers and hand-builders alike are welcome. Projects include pitchers and flasks in many sizes, yunomi (teabowls), vase, planter, and possibly pumpkins or luminaries. Surface decoration techniques include silk-screening with underglazes, water-etching, glaze resist, clay slip, flashing slips, slip trailing, textures and contrasting clays. Glazing strategies & support are offered on weeks 5-6 and throughout.
Tuesdays, 6pm-9pm, Sep 8 – Oct 20 (no class on Oct 13)
Tuition includes a $40 fee for soda firing, shelf-grinding, and other materials prepared or purchased for Stacie’s class.
Class includes one scheduled 3-hour class per week and open studio time. Clay sold separately. Enjoy gorgeous food-safe glazes and consistent firings in our Bailey & Geil gas kilns.
