Crystalline glazes are beautiful and challenging. Let’s focus on elegant forms to showcase crystalline glazes in this workshop-style class! Margaret Cheng, demonstrates several kinds of vases and other forms that work well with crystalline glazes. Students learn shaping skills and gain experience with narrow-neck vases. We also learn how to make pedestals and glaze-catchers. In weeks 4-6, you’ll apply glazes and get pieces ready for a special crystalline glaze firing. We also learn how to separate pieces from their catch-basins and finish the bottoms.
Thursdays, 6pm-9pm, Sept 10 to Oct 15
Enjoy one scheduled 3-hour class per week, open studio time, choice of clays sold separately, gorgeous food-safe glazes, and consistent firings in our kilns.
Ticket price includes fee for glaze materials as well as special firings ($100 non-member, $79 for members).
