NEW! Jeanne Vasdaz helps students summon a chimera (hybrid creature) from their feverish dreams! During the first session, participants pick different animals or objects to shape their creatures, sketch ideas, and load their phones with reference pictures of their chosen entities. If the creature includes a human part, students may need to take pictures of their own bodies to better understand the position.

We then start sculpting from solid clay or use coil techniques. During the next few classes, students work on building and detailing their sculptures as well as smoothing and texturing the skin of their chimera.

Once our sculptures are bisque-fired, we sand and start the glazing/decoration process. During the last session we talk about repairing a broken fired piece and, time-permitting, explore smaller projects like making magnets.

Enjoy one scheduled 3-hour class per week and unlimited open studio time outside of class. A variety of clays (sold separately) are available plus 40+ gorgeous food-safe glazes, and consistent firings in our kilns.
