Sun AM Wheel & Raku with Vasudha
Skill: Intermediate-Advanced
NEW! Vasudha Chittar (@ChittarVasudha) presents new directions in Raku firing! Students should have previous experience with both regular raku and saggar firing in order to take this class.
This fall, let’s combine regular raku glazes in unique ways! We’ll also add colored glass pieces to raku surfaces, try a new style of saggar made from slabs thin slabs of clay, explore mica-infused terra sigillata with regular raku glazes, and finish the session with an Obvara firing. In the first two weeks, we’ll make vessels compatible with our planned alternative firings and get our pieces burnished with terra sigillata. In weeks 3-6, students participate in several types of raku firings with the items they’ve created.
Sundays, 10am-1pm, Sept 13 to Oct 18
Enjoy one scheduled 3-hour class per week, open studio time, choice of clays sold separately, gorgeous food-safe glazes, and consistent firings in our Bailey gas kilns.
