Sun AM Raku Firing & Wheel Projects with Anthony
For students with 3-6 months experience… Join Anthony Rollins for a 6-week class exploring traditional raku firing! Anthony demonstrates how to throw elegant forms using larger amounts of clay, and helps you build skills in shaping & trimming. Participants also learn finishing techniques including how to protect and enhance the surface of low-fired pieces. Anthony shows many methods of decorative raku glazing — stencils, tape, sgraffito, underglaze and wax resist. Students also receive an orientation on safety in the firing process.
Sundays, 10am-1pm, Mar 3 – Apr 7
Ticket price includes a materials fee of $20/person for underglazes, tape and other items purchased (or made) for Anthony’s class.
Class includes one scheduled 3-hour class per week and open studio time. Clay sold separately. Students may also utilize our 40+ cone 10 glazes and firings in our Bailey gas kilns.
Class takes place at JTown Clay — 520 N 7th St., San Jose, CA 95112.
