Class Policies and Guidelines

Refunds: Full tuition will be refunded up to and including the date of the first session minus a 25 dollar registration fee; no refunds thereafter.

Class Rescheduling: Please contact the studio if you are unable to make an upcoming session. We will make every effort to reschedule a make-up session within the term of your class program.

Clay: Just Try It Students enrolled in 6-week sessions are supplied with clay. Project class students are required to obtain their clay from Higher Fire.  The clay sold here is tested and approved for use with our glazes and kiln.  The sale price includes full access to our glazes and the bisque and final glaze firings. Outside clay may be utilized only with the advance approval of instructor and payment of a firing fee ($24 for a 25lb bag).

Open Studio Time: The basic “Just Try It” 6-week class does not include open studio time.   Due to size limitation dictated by the health department during this phase of the pandemic, we are unable to offer upgrades to practice outside of class times.  Project classes (sculpture, hand-building & intermediate/advanced wheel) DO include unlimited open studio time.  Open Studio hours for students are as follow:

Monday – Saturday 9:30am – 9pm
Sunday 11am – 5pm
Closed Major Holidays
These times are subject to change and are appointment-based.

Firing Risks: Ceramic kiln firings can be risky and the results unpredictable. While we take every precaution while loading and firing, the Studio is not responsible for damage to student work or undesirable results.  Students will be asked to help clean kiln shelves affected by their glaze work.

Studio Caution: Staff will provide an initial tour and overview of the facility. Please take care when moving and working around other student and member work. If you have any questions or doubts about procedures, please do not hesitate to ask.

Parking: Please check our web site for parking details

Personal Risk: Higher Fire Studio is not financially liable for any injury sustained on the premises.
